People are inherently tribal. This is troublesome insofar as it cleaves and spoils connections between peoples, exacerbating difference, causing disquietude, restiveness, even alienation. My book, Ethereal Dream, explores the stripping away of categorical and hierarchical social identities, stereotype, ethnicity, culture, etc. It is a platform, a designed experience for discussion of common ground. Fragmental elements and silhouettes represent the release of imposed and misaligned identities, pointing up the fact that we are connected by the same source. Everyone is of one being.

“Reflected Perception” 21
A self-portrait piece that embodies the chaos of the troubled mind. A mind affected by the mental illness of Schizophrenia. This image depicts the side effects of this illness, and its consumption of the human form. Reflected Perception shows the transition of being taken over by the side effects and colliding its distorted reality unto its fragile host. The typeface used to assist this interpretation is RYEVAL. A font created by Donté King. Its edgy form and needle-like appeal works hand-to-hand in an effort to bring awareness to the chaotic mental storm that is Schizophrenia.
